Artist Career

Al Reshard is currently based in Jacksonville, Florida, but he’s traveled around the country over the course of his music career.

For 40 years, Al has refined his sound through a life of training with acclaimed musicians and performances alongside them.

Al brings a dynamic sound to each and every venue he travels to, opening for names like Chaka Khan, Keiko Matsui, The Rippingtons, and the Yellowjackets.

It’s safe to say that Al has come a long way from his first performance at his hometown church.

Today, Al has garnered a reputation for a smooth sound, jazz inspiration, and electric energy – both in and out of the studio.

For his debut solo album titled “Behind Bars,” Al teamed up with his son, fellow musician and co-producer, Jon Reshard.

Featuring a host of impressive musicians like Will Kennedy and Frank Gambale – just to name a few – the album brings new life to bass with an innovative blend of genres.

The album serves as a career culmination of sorts. In it, Al’s decades of experience shine through, exhibiting his abilities on a 4 string, 6 string, and Fretless bass.

As his first solo album, Al set out to think creatively about his own tone, but drew inspiration from prior band experience.

Once a member in renowned band One-To-One, Al ventured into the creation of his own band: Segue.

Al founded Segue to bring another musical vision to life – uniting a mix of talented musicians with a shared passion for exploring what bass and jazz can be.

Between his debut solo album, a feature in Bass Magazine, a thriving band, and a second album already in the works, Al keeps busy generating different sounds with each project and partner.

As Al transitions to full-time touring, he’ll continue taking inspiration with him from the sidewalk to the stage.
